The Department of English is persistent in its pursuit for excellence and leadership in knowledge generation and creativity for human development in the Arts and Letters. Its mission is to provide human resources for the creative and corporate industries, to develop persons who are well-equipped with communication skills, to lead in the academic study and in the documentation of regional literatures and languages, especially of the Southern Philippines, to contribute to the enrichment of Philippine culture which shall help cement a national identity amidst globalization, to interrelate the learning paradigms of the best models of formal education with those of traditional indigenous learning, and to inspire lifelong learning and instil a sense of duty towards one’s immediate community.
