BAChelor of ARTS in psychology
The Psychology Department offers two undergraduate degree Programs, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Both of these programs apply the theories of psychology in analyzing human behavior and mental processes. These programs train students for careers in psychometrics, counseling, industrial-organizational psychology, social and clinical work, mental health care, research, and teaching.
The MSU-IIT Psychosocial Response Team was organized as an integrated psychosocial response aiming to assist individuals experiencing stressful events. The Psychology Department, in collaboration with the College of Education, College of Computer Studies, and the Office of the Guidance and Counseling Center recognizes the need for greater community involvement in the promotion of mental health. Thus, the department implemented an extensive mental health awareness program through psycho-educational interventions like seminars and workshops. It also conducts psychological assessment and provides counseling to the survivors of the Marawi Siege, students, faculty and staff of the MSU-IIT, and other individuals who are experiencing pandemic-related distress in order to address their mental health needs.
The Department of Psychology of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology was recognized by the Board of Psychology of the Philippine Regulation Commission as the 7th Top Performing School in the October 2019 Licensure Examination for Psychometricians with a passing rate of 87.25% with 102 examinees. The recognition was awarded during the Oath Taking Ceremony for Registered Psychometrician last January 2020 at Cagayan de Oro City. The college dean Dr. Rohane Derogongan and faculty members of the Department of Psychology received the award.
MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology was audited by QS Stars, an international rating system that assesses the strengths of an institution on a range of performance indicators across several categories last March 2020. The BS Psychology program received a 3 star rating as a Specialist Program with marked competitiveness and strength, the only undergraduate program to receive such rating in the institute. With a graduate employment rate of 88%, a completion rate of 75% and 81% over-all student satisfaction.
